History of the Grand Priscilla Hotel

Opened in 1928 by designer, architect, and hotelier, P.J. Armstrong. The Grand Priscilla Hotel has been a luxurious gem of a property tucked miles away from the bustling life of New York City. Mr.Armstrong built this elegant hotel for his paramour Priscilla who he was courting at the time, and later married. The hotel bears her name as a symbol of their love.

Over the years,

there have been many notable stays and performances of prominent celebrities, artists, and politicians - including James Baldwin, Lena Horne, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Xavier Cugat, Arthur Miller and Ray Charles. Even a senator who would later become President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, was a guest! It has also been rumored that The Grand Priscilla Hotel was the location where Ossie Davis asked Ruby Dee for her hand in marriage!

Our Hotel continues…

To evolve its legacy in this hidden town to this day. Since the doors opened, The Grand Priscilla Hotel has undergone many renovations to upgrade its luxury accommodations and public spaces, while never losing its historic roots and architectural grandeur.
